At least 25 dead in northwest Pakistan suicide blast
13:29 18/09/2009 MOSCOW, September 18 (RIA Novosti) - At least 25 people died on Friday in a suicide car bombing in the northwestern Pakistani city of Kohat, local media reported.
"A suicide bomber blew up a car filled with explosives in the market," a police officer said.
According to the latest information, rescuers pulled 25 bodies from the debris. Some people are still under the rubble.
Several local shops were badly damaged in the blast, which occurred in a market outside a small hotel.
Kohat is located on the Afghan border in an area that has seen an upsurge in violence from radical Islamist groups, including the Taliban and al Qaeda.
