Fighting leaves 24 militants, 3 Pakistani soldiers dead: army

Islamabad, May 23, IRNA -- Pakistani security forces have killed 17 more militants in the on-going operation against the Taliban-linked militants in Swat valley in 24 hours, the army said Friday.

An army statement said that 3 security forces personnel including an officer were also killed 10 others were injured in various areas of Swat.

The forces arrested 4 miscreants during the operation, it said.

The security forces are consolidating their positions and expanding their control over Peochar Valley, the Taliban stronghold at training center, the statement said.

In Dir district, the miscreants ambushed a convoy of Security Forces near which Kumbar bazaar area and exchange of fire took place. As a result 6 miscreants-terrorists were killed while 4 were apprehended, the army said. An officer embraced was killed and 4 soldiers were injured.
