Pakistan army say 55 more militants killed in Swat valley

Islamabad,May 9 ,IRNA -- Pakistani security forces Saturday ‘killed as many as 55 militants’ in various areas of the Swat valley, the army said.
An army statement said that militants were harassing the civil population and were intensely involved in various activities of looting and arson in the city of Mingora.
“Early morning Attack helicopters engaged militants’ hideouts in Mingora. 15 Militants are reportedly killed in the engagement,” the statement said.
Main Headquarter of militant in Matta area has also been completely destroyed while suspected locations of militants were engaged in the same area.
Militant hideouts were also engaged in several areas in Khawzakhelaa area and reportedly, 30-40 militants have been killed, the statement said.
Indiscriminate mortar firing by the militants in the populated areas of Mingora, resulted into civilian casualties, the army said. Two soldiers were also injured. The army said militants are using houses of civilians as bunkers for engaging Security Forces.
There are reports that the criminals who had sided with hard core militants are now fleeing from the area, it said.
