Pakistan forces say kill 7 militants in northwest: spokesaman

Islamabad, May 5 , IRNA -- Pakistan security forces Monday killed 7 militants including a senior commander in country’s Buner district, army said.
The army spokesman said in a statement that operation in Buner is progressing smoothly and consolidation of Positions in Daggar, the center of Buner, and surrounding areas continues.

On Monday, Security Forces engaged militant’s hideout in Kalpani area, killing 7 Militants, including an important militant commander Afsar Hameed, he said.

Also, one soldier was killed and 3 others were injured, he said in a statement.

The spokesman said that the militants are reportedly using 2000 innocent people as human shield in view of impending clearance of a famous shrine ‘Pir Baba’ by Security Forces.

The army said that the militants brutally beheaded two soldiers in their captivity on Sunday in Khawazakhela area of Swat against all norms of religious teaching and human ethics.

“Militants high handedness continues in Swat. In gross violation of peace accord armed militants are marching on the roads of Mangora city and other areas, threatening the lives of the innocent people of Swat and civil administration,” the spokesman said. He said security Forces are still exercising restraint to honor the peace agreement.
