Pakistani general calls for more defense cooperation with Iran

Islamabad, April 12, IRNA -- Pakistan's new Air Force Commander admired Iran’s achievements in different parts of defense affairs and called for more defence cooperation with Iran.
General Qamar Soleyman in a meeting with Iran’s ambassador in Pakistan on the occasion of Iran’s Army Day, said cooperation between the two countries air forces will lead to strengthening other aspects of ties between Tehran and Islamabad.
He added defense cooperation between the two countries is not against any other nation and Islamabad considers such ties in direction of its own security and national interests.
Pakistani general also expressed interest to see Iran’s progress in different fields of defense affairs.
Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mashallah Shakeri described Iran-Pakistan relations "excellent”.
He added cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of defense, is not in a desirable level yet, and it is necessary that both countries increase cooperation in the field of armed forces.
Shakeri underlined that Iran has always wanted a powerful and integrated Pakistan.
