India condemns terror attack in Pakistan

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

New Delhi, March 30, IRNA -- While condemning the deadly terror attack on a police training center in Lahore, India Monday asked Pakistan to continue dismantling the terror infrastructure on its soil.

"We condemn the attack in Pakistan, which showed that the terror infrastructure in Pakistan was growing," said Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma told reporters in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, India's Union Home Minister P Chidambaram while condemning the attack has said India sympathizes with the Pakistan government, but no parallel of the attack can be drawn with the Mumbai attacks.

"Our sympathies are with the government and people of Pakistan. No parallel can be drawn between this and Mumbai attacks," said Chidambaram.

Earlier, India's Army vice-chief, Lt General Nobel Thamburaj, while responding to questions in the wake of terror attack in Lahore said: "Indian armed forces are prepared at all times to tackle 'any spill-over' of terror threat to India from Pakistan.

"The armed forces are prepared at all times if there is any spill-over of the problems onto our territory."

At least 20 policemen, including eight officers, were killed and 30 others injured when a group of heavily armed terrorists stormed a police training center near the Wagah border and took several hostages on Monday morning.
