Suicide bomber kills 9 in Pakistan

Rawalpindi, March 17, IRNA - A suicide bomber exploded himself up near a bus station in the Pakistani garrison city of Rawalpindi, killing at least nine people, rescue officials said.

Witnesses said the bomber came in a taxi and exploded his bomb outside a restaurant near main bus station at around 9 p.m.

Police earlier said that the bomber was in a car.

City Police chief Nasir Khan Durrani said that the suicide attacker targeted civilians.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack also destroyed several vehicles in the busy area.

Police said that 17 people were also injured who were taken to local hospitals.

Durrani said that the police have collected evidences and it would be clear after investigation as to why the bomber targeted the civilians.
