Pakistani FM slams US raids on his country
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Feb 8, IRNA -- Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi here on Sunday criticized US military attacks on Taliban and al-Qaeda targets in his country.
Speaking at the 45th Munich Security Conference on Sunday, Qureshi urged the US 'to respect' his country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"In October last year, the Pakistani parliament adopted a historic resolution declaring the Pakistani nation's unswerving commitment to stand against the threat of terrorism and to address its root causes,"
he said.
"This resolution provides a comprehensive framework for a multi-pronged strategy to deal with this serious menace. It also sent a clear message that the territory of Pakistan will not be used for terrorist activities, while our sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected," Qureshi added.
The Pakistani government has been facing mounting pressure to halt its support of the so-called 'US war on terror' unless America stops its deadly air raids on Pakistan.
