Religious leaders condemn assassination of Shia leader

Islamabad, Jan, 28, IRNA -- The Pakistani religious leaders condemned the assassination of Shia leader Hussain Ali Yousafi in Quetta and said that a conspiracy is being hatched to spread fire of sectarianism.
Talking to IRNA they called upon the people to foil the designs of those elements who are trying to divide Muslims of Pakistan.
At least 13 people were injured when violence erupted in Quetta after assassination of Hazara Democratic Party chairman Hussain Ali Yousufi.
As the news of Yousufi's murder spread thousands of HDP supporters took to the streets.
An angry mob torched two banks, fired at the office of a private news channel and burnt six vehicles. Elsewhere, protesters burnt tyres, attacked government buildings and even passers-by.
Police arrived one hour after the violence and began to shell the protesters, hurting 30. Some protesters clashed with police.
Law-enforcement personnel used batons and teargas shells to disperse mobs, but groups of charged people continued to gather at different places.
Chief of Tehreek-e-Jaferia Pakistan Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi said that assassination of Hussain Ali Yousufi is the continuation of the incidents to disturb the peace of Balochistan.
He said the elements behind such brutal acts want to destabilize the peace of the area.
To a question about the role of the government in maintaining law and order Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi said that the government was failed to control the worsening law and order situation. "In fact the government has no existence in Balochistan", he said.
He added that whole country has become a victim of the poor law and order situation, which is unfortunate.
To a question on the reaction of the workers of Hazara Democratic Party in which half a dozen vehicles and motorcycles were set on fire and several buildings were attacked Sajid Ali Naqvi said that it was a natural reaction.
However, he said there were some elements in the mob that created law and order situation and workers of Hazara Democratic Party were not responsible for that situation.
Naib Amir, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaquat Baloch condemning the assassination said that there are some hidden elements who spread sectarianism.
He was of the view that the government was not serious in bringing the peace in the area rather the government is completely failed.
Liaquat Baloch said that the people of Balochistan want peace in their area. He said that there is a foreign hand behind this unrest in the area. He urged the government to curb the activities of conspirators.
