Pakistan-Rockets
Suspected militants fired eight rockets in a Pakistani city and three landed in army area, injuring at least two persons including a soldier, police said Tuesday.
The rockets were fired last night on Mardan, a major city in northwest, some 120 kms from Islamabad, when the people were asleep.
A spokesman for local Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.
Three rockets landed in army's cantonment area known as "Punjab Regiment Center" injuring at least one soldier, police added. Several rockets hit civilian areas, causing damage to several houses.
The incident has created fear among the people as Taliban have extended their activities to the country's northwestern areas.
Taliban had in the past also carried out attacks on army and police in Mardan, the second largest city after Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province.
The police have not yet succeeded to trace the culprits.
