A top Pakistani scientist Thursday dismissed as rubbish claims by Afghan government that Pakistan had dumped nuclear waste in southern Afghanistan during Taliban rule.
President Hamid Karzai Wednesday appointed a team of experts to investigate allegations that Pakistan had dumped nuclear waste in southern Afghanistan.
This follows a statement in April, by his minister for parliamentary affairs that the government had evidence Pakistan had buried its nuclear waste in the southern Afghan provinces of Helmand and Kandahar during the 1996-2001 Taliban regime.
"There is no possibility of dumping waste in other country," Pakistan nuclear scientist Samar Mubarakmand said.
Mubarakmand told the state TV that the claim by Afghan government is a political one and the government must deal in the same way.
"It is not feasible to shift nuclear waste and dump far way," he said.
The Pakistani Foreign ministry has already termed the Afghan claim as rubbish and said such kind of claims do not need a response even.
