A Mirage fighter aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force crashed in the eastern province of Punjab on Wednesday but the pilot was able to eject safely, an official said.
The aircraft was on a "routine operational training mission" when it crashed near the city of Jhang, Geo television quoted a military official as saying.
"The crash apparently occurred due to technical malfunction," he said.
No loss of civilian life or property on ground had been reported.
An inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident, the official said.
