Pakistan-Rockets
Pakistan's security forces on Thursday defused two rockets recovered earlier from its high security zone in the capital Islamabad, TV channels reported.

The rockets were found near the parliament lodges located near the President's House and parliament building.

The police detained over 80 people from the area.

A majority of those detained were laborers who were working in a nearby government building.

Hundreds of police were called after information was received that a suspected packet was lying near the Parliament lodges.

Troops and paramilitary personnel also joined the police to block roads.

Experts of the bomb disposal squad defused the rockets after hectic efforts.

Police officers were tight-lipped about the rockets' recovery.

The area is highly sensitive because the President's House, parliament building, ministers' offices, parliament lodges, Supreme Court and several other government buildings are located there.

It is thought that the rockets were fixed in the night.

The police had to direct traffic to other routes causing traffic jams in many parts of the capital.

Police prevented journalists from going near the site from where the rockets were recovered.

Officials said that President Pervez Musharraf was scheduled to address a conference on the earthquake recovery plan at the Convention Center, located some one-and-a-half kilometers from the rockets' recovery site.
