Pakistan Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Friday that there is no need to deploy more 10,000 troops along the border with Afghanistan.
Pakistan has deployed some 80,000 troops along the Afghan border to curb cross-border movement of Taliban and al-Qaeda suspects.
Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmod Kasuri told a joint news conference along with U.S Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice this week that Pakistan will deploy 10,000 more troops to strengthen security on the border.
Some 78,000 security forces are already performing their duties on Pak-Afghan border.
Their performance is satisfactory and there is no need to deploy 10,000 more troops, Mr Sherpao told newsmen after passing out parade of a special VIP Protection Group.
He said that despite its limited resources the Pakistan security forces have arrested 600 Al-Qaeda workers and handed over to the United States.
Pakistan is playing a key role in terror war and Pakistan is not only extending its support to the U.S but is also providing support to 50 other countries in eliminating terrorism at global level.
The Interior Minister to a question said that the U.S Secretary of State during her recent Pakistan visit had also praised the steps being taken by the Pakistan government for the elimination of terrorism.
