Pakistani Taliban say will honor ceasefire

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Islamabad, June 29, IRNA
Pakistan-Tribal Taliban
The local Taliban in Pakistan's North Waziristan have said that they would fully honor the one-month ceasefire they had announced this week, a Taliban statement said on Thursday.

According to the statement issued in Miranshah they said that they would try their best not to violate the ceasefire declaration, saying that the government officials can also perform their duties with full freedom and without any fear.

They also removed a ban on tribal elders to meet the government officials and said that their tribal elders could now freely meet the government officials for holding result-oriented talks so that permanent peace could be restored in the area.

However, they stopped their supporters from using masks, particularly in bazaars, roads and other public places.

They called upon the people to contact and inform the local Taliban on witnessing the masked supporters in the said places.

It may be mentioned here that the local people have also welcomed the ceasefire announcement and expressed their satisfaction over it.

They also prayed for success of government-elements talks so that complete normalcy could be revived in the agency.
