Pakistan on Friday described as ludicrous remarks by British Colonel Chris Vernon, Chief of Staff for Southern Afghanistan, that Pakistan is allowing Taliban to use its soil for attacks in Afghanistan.

Instead of speaking to media, it would have been appropriate if the Colonel Vernon provided actionable and real time intelligence, a military spokesman said.

Colonel Chris Vernon told the British Guardian newspaper on Friday that Taliban are making their plans in the southwestern city of Quetta.

The spokesman for Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations said that an excellent forum of Tripartite Commission exists for sharing intelligence and other matters related to the ongoing war on terror between Pakistan, Afghanistan, US and ISAF / NATO.

This media projection only reflects their own inadequacy to deal with the situation and they start trumpeting irrationally when they feel the heat, he said in a statement.

He said Pakistan is committed to rooting out terrorism in all its forms and manifestation, no matter what the cost.

We have suffered heavily in the process, it is disappointing when such baseless statements are issued which are nothing but figment of someone's imagination, the spokesman concluded.

Colonel Chris Vernon claimed in the interview that Taliban are running their network from Quetta. He said that Taliban leadership is controlling some 25 commanders from Quetta, who are active in southern Afghanistan.
