A member of the Pakistani parliament has warned the United States of an uprising if their Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) office was not removed from Chitral.
Talking to newsmen in Peshawar on Saturday, Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, who belongs to the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, said that CIA should pack up before May 11; otherwise, the people of Chitral would rise against the US.
Chitral is located some 250 kilometers away from North-West Frontier Province's Peshawar.
He protested the fact that the US, under the garb of security, makes inroads in different areas and plays havoc with peace and tranquility there.
"We can't allow the US to do this in our area."
He contended that neither Osama nor Mullah Omar was in Chitral and, therefore, there was no need for secret agencies to stay there.
He complained that peace in the locality had been ruined due to the arrival of Americans and that they had conveyed their concerns to the NWFP chief minister, police chief and interior minister.
the US, after the devastating October 8 earthquake, had set up offices and hospitals to provide relief to locals over which many parties have expressed concerns.
Chitral shares borders with Afghanistan and Tajikistan and is also close to Gilgit, where Shiite Muslims are in the majority.
