Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri on Saturday told his Swiss counterpart Mrs. Micheline Calmyrey that the US-India agreement on nuclear cooperation will have serious implications for security environment of South Asia.

A packaged approached in this regard would have served better, Kasuri told a joint news conference with Calmyrey after their talks in Islamabad.

Kasuri said he urged Switzerland, an important member of Nuclear Supplier Group, to play a constructive role on Iran's nuclear issue.

Pakistan wants a negotiated solution of the Iran nuclear issue.

About Afghanistan, he said Pakistan has direct stake in the peace, progress and stability of Afghanistan and has been extending every cooperation to achieve this objective.

"I discussed sacrilegious caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with my Swiss counterpart and both sides agreed to work together for promoting inter-faith harmony and dialogue among civilizations," the Pakistani foreign minister said.

He said the two sides agreed to further strengthen the on-going developing cooperation as well as educational and technological exchanges between the two countries.

"We also agreed on the need for tapping the vast potential for enhancing bilateral economic relations and emphasized the desirability of institutionalization of economic relations."
The two sides proposed reactivation of Memorandum of Understanding signed between Board of Investment and Swiss Organization for Facilitation of Investment, he said.

He said they discussed the complaint of maltreatment and harassment of visa applicants as well as alleged involvement of some employees of Swiss Embassy in Islamabad in human trafficking.

He said Pakistan has stressed that the rights of genuine travelers from Pakistan be respected and protected.

Kasuri said sustained efforts are underway to eliminate the human trafficking and said Pakistan will take every possible measure to ensure facilitation for visas for genuine travelers.

Kasuri said he briefed the Swiss foreign minister on the on-going composite dialogue with India aimed at addressing all the outstanding issues including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
