Pakistan, Netherlands navies hold joint exercises

Pakistan Navy Fleet Units conducted a joint naval exercise with Royal Netherlands (Navy) Ship HNLMS 'De Zeven Provincien' en route to its next destination after paying a goodwill visit to Karachi, a Pakistan navy statement said on Saturday.

The visiting ship is a part of CMCP force patrolling in the Arabian Sea to thwart any act of terrorism, the statement said.

The exercise was aimed at training and rehearsing operational plans to enhance inter-operability and better coordination, it said.

Commander Task Force-150 Commodore J. W. Ort, who arrived with the visiting ship, called on Pakistan Naval chief Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir here Saturday and discussed matters of professional interest.

Earlier, Commodore Ort also held meetings with various administrative authorities of Pakistan Navy and visited Pakistan Navy shore units and sea going vessels.
