Musharraf for Pakistan-India conflict resolution stage

President Pervez Musharraf on Saturday noted the importance of Confidence Building Measures between Pakistan and India and underscored the imperative of moving to the conflict resolution stage.
He was talking to US Under Secretary of States for Political Affairs R. Nicholas Burns who called on him in Rawalpindi on Saturday, a Foreign Office statement said.
They exchanged views on regional issues, including the Pakistan- India peace process and Afghanistan, it said.
The president apprised the US Under Secretary of the status of composite dialogue with India and the recently held Foreign Secretary level talks, the statement said.
General Pervez Musharraf highlighted Pakistan's contribution to peace, stability and reconstruction of Afghanistan.
He said Pakistan will actively participate in the conference on that country to be held in London later this month.
As regards, the forthcoming visit of President Bush to South Asia, President Pervez Musharraf said we are looking forward to welcome him in Pakistan.
The President expressed gratitude for the US assistance for quake affected areas. He noted that the focus is now shifting from relief to reconstruction.
Mr. Burns reiterated his government's commitment to continue providing all possible help in this regard.
