Pakistan PM-US Strike
Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Tuesday he will discuss the American air strike with US officials during his visit to the United States, beginning on January 18.

At least 18 people, including women and children, were killed when the US plane fired missiles on three houses in Pakistan's tribal Bajaur Agency on Friday.

"The Bajaur Agency incident is regrettable and the government has condemned it and I will discuss it with US officials during my visit to the United States," the prime minister told newsmen after his meeting with senior Bush here.

It was an unfortunate event in which many innocent persons lost their lives, Aziz said.

He said the federal cabinet in its meeting on Tuesday also condemned this incident and expressed condolences with the affected families.

He said however United States relations with Pakistan are important and longstanding and his visit there is because Pakistan wants to engage the United State on many issues including war on terrorism.

Relationship with the US is important and he will discuss all important issues with the US administration to give boost to the Pak-US ties.

To a question, the prime minister appreciated efforts made by the United Nations and its allied agencies for relief and rehabilitation activities and thanked UN secretary general for appointing senior Bush as special envoy to raise more funds for the affected people.
