Islamabad, Nov 23, IRNA
Pakistan-Kashmir
Pakistan on Wednesday said there is no time-frame from its side on when to close down the five crossings on the Line of Control on both sides of Kashmir.

Talking to a local private television channel, Geo, Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said that there was no time-limit from the government for how long these crossings would remain opened.

"From our side, these crossings will remain open for indefinite period," maintained the foreign minister.

He said Pakistan had proposed to India for opening of five crossings on LoC to facilitate Kashmiris on both sides of it.

"Our aim is to help alleviate sufferings of Kashmiris in the wake of the earthquake," he said.

LoC divides Kashmir: one part of it is under Pakistan's administration while the other under India's.

The earthquake hit Pakistan and both parts of Kashmir while Kashmir under Pakistan's administration suffered huge casualties and loss to property on October 8.

Islamabad and New Delhi have fought two of the three wars on Kashmir dispute since their independence from the British rule in August 1947.

However, they are engaged in a peace process since February last year and have expressed the resolve to settle all bilateral issues, including Kashmir dispute through peaceful means.
