Pakistan army says 91 helicopters engaged in relief, rescue operations

A total of 91 helicopters including 41 of Pakistan, 22 from various friendly countries and 18 of various NG's and independent organization are hectically engaged in relief and rescue operation in various effected areas of Kashmir and North West Frontier Province, an army statement has said.

The helicopters of Pakistan, employed on rescue and relief operation include 16 MI-17, three Puma, ten Bell 412, two Y-12, two Sea king (Navy), eight Alouttue, while 22 allied helicopters including twelve of US, two Germans, two of Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia and four of Afghanistan.

The 18 Miscellaneous helicopters including one of ICRC, three of Japan (working for own hospital), two Latvia, two UN, one Jet Ranger of Edhi, four AB139 of Agha Khan, two Kamove of France and one Bell 212 of UAE.

During last 16 days the fleet of Pakistani and allied helicopters have flown 2715 hrs and evacuated 13651 causalities.

Over 2200 tans of relief items have been shifted to the quake affected areas.
