19,100 people killed in Pakistan: Sherpao

Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Sunday said that according to reports received so far over 19,100 people had lost their lives and about forty-two thousand four hundred injured in the earthquake.
Briefing newsmen after the cabinet meeting, the Interior Minister said the worst hit area was Azad Kashmir where about 17,400 people have so far been reported killed and over 40,400 injured.
He said in the NWFP 1760 people have been killed and about 1800 injured.
In Punjab 11 persons were killed and 83 injured while in Northern Areas the damage was very little and only two persons were killed.
He said the Prime Minister is constituting special cabinet teams to assist in the relief work in different areas.
The cabinet members have donated their one month salary for the relief work.
Aftab Ahmad KHan Sherpao said that ten relief good trucks have been sent to Hazara and another ten to Azad Kashmir.
Army helicopters have started relief operations and C-130 aircraft will drop cooked food in the worst affected areas of Northern NWFP and Kashmir.
Army troops have been called out in the entire quake hit areas.
He said Army engineers, Frontier Works Organization and National Highway Authority have been instructed to coordinate their work for clearance and reconstruction of highways.
The Interior Minister said international relief assistance has also started coming in.
Chartered flights and assistance from UAE, Britain, China, France, Turkey, Jordan, have either reached or on their way.
Salvage teams have also arrived from Japan, Britain and China.
United States is supplying helicopters to supply relief goods in the affected areas.
