Pakistan says LoC based solution of Kashmir not acceptable

Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Riaz Muhammad Khan said on Tuesday that Pakistan would not accept any solution to the issue of Jammu and Kashmir based on the Line of Control (LoC).
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the Foreign Secretary said that any solution, based on the Line of Control is not acceptable to Pakistan as well as the people of Kashmir.
He said that both sides have held serious discussion on all issues including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir during the first day talks of Foreign Ministers of the two countries adding that certainly there has been movement on confidence building measures.
He said the two countries undertook all issues including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and agreed to put forward the peace process. He added that the two sides reviewed on maintaining the integrity of the dialogue process.
Of course there are differences between the two countries but both sides are determined to address all issue. Through discussion, given sincerity and flexibility, it would be possible to reach an agreement on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, said Foreign Secretary.
He said they have exchanged views and ideas on the issue of Siachen and Sir Creek however he said it would not be possible to say more about it before the joint statement of the two leaders, which would be issued on Tuesday.
Responding to a question, the Foreign Secretary said that Kashmir is not on the backburner rather he said Kashmir is the central issue on the agenda of dialogue process.
He maintained that they have to proceed on the basis of hope and sincerity adding that there is certainly sincerity on the part of both sides.
The longstanding issue of Jammu and Kashmir can be resolved which is acceptable not only to Pakistan and India but also to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
Riaz Muhammad Khan said that Pakistan always insists that Kashmiris should be involved in the dialogue process.
He said Pakistani side made reference to the issue of human rights violations in the Indian held Kashmir during talks.
He urged the need to address this issue.
