Pakistan-Musharraf-Terrorism
President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf will meet top-brass of the United States military to discuss the proposal of fencing the Pak-Afghan border and other issues in a meeting slated for Monday.
According to a local private television, Geo, President Musharraf said that he would be discussing anti-terror war, fencing of Pak-Afghan border and other issues with US military's top-brass.
President Musharraf, who addressed the United Nations General Assembly session, spoke to the Council for World Jewry on Sunday.
This was for the first time, a Pakistani leader addressed the Jewish council.
He proposed that in order to do away with the allegations of cross border movements, the rugged Pak-Afghan border must be fenced.
Pakistan has stationed around 80,000 security forces along the 24,00-kilometer border to ensure no unwanted element crosses the border.
About his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, President Musharraf said the talks were positive.
He brushed aside the impression that these were deadlocked.
Both sides are committed and have the resolve to settle issues through peaceful means, President Musharraf maintained.
However, he added they were maintaining a sort of confidentiality and did not want to disclose each other's views towards the settlement of Kashmir problem.
The Kashmir problem has led to two of the three wars between Pakistan and India since their independence from the British rule in August 1947.
President Musharraf said that both sides wanted to take forward the peace process and the next months meeting between Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and his Indian counterpart Natwar Singh would be part of that process.
Similarly, he said, Indian premier would also be visiting Pakistan for which he had been invited.
