Pak President says Islamabad will not recognize Israel

Pakistan's President General Pervez Musharraf said on Thursday that Pakistan would not recognize the Zionist regime till establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Addressing tribal elders, elected representatives, and elites at Governor House in Quetta, Balochistan, he said that Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri held talks with the Israeli foreign minister in Istanbul.
The president said that he had also talked to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in this regard and recognition of Israel would be considered with the consultation of other Islamic countries.
"Israel could not be recognized till the resolution of Palestinian issue in consonance with the aspirations of the people of Palestinian and establishment of an independent Palestinian state," he added.
President Musharraf said that Pakistan is an Islamic state and heavy responsibility lies with it for the resolution of Palestinian dispute.
"Pakistan would fulfill its responsibility in this regard." He added that he has been invited to address the American Jewish Congress during his visit to New York, which he said would help resolve the Palestinian issue.
