Pakistan, India resume to back channel diplomacy

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Islamabad, June 15, IRNA
Pakistan-India
Senior officials of Pakistan and India have revived the back channel diplomacy when they met in Dubai.

The News reported in its Wednesday's edition that the Indian National Security Board chairman Sateesh Kumar had a meeting with Pakistan's National Security Council Secretary Tariq Aziz last Friday.

Both sides focused on longstanding Kashmir problem that impeded the efforts aimed at normalization of relations, according to the report.

Islamabad and New Delhi have fought two of the three wars on the problem since their independence from the British rule in 1947.

The back channel has been playing an effective role in pushing the peace process talks.

Pakistan and India would hold secretary-level talks on one of the oldest disputes on water project underway in Kashmir under India's control on June 24-25 in New Delhi, the daily said.

The two nations have decided to resolve their disputes and differences through peaceful means instead of opting for military solutions to them.
