Pakistan arrests two suspects of suicide bombing

Two members of a banned extremist group, who masterminded a suicide bomb attack on a Shiite mosque in the port city of Karachi last week, have been arrested in an overnight raid, Police said Tuesday.
The suicide bombing occurred during evening prayers at the Madinatul Ilm Imambargah in eastern Karachi, which left at least five people dead, two of them the attackers and a police guard, and a dozen injured.
Also six workers at US fast food outlet KFC died when it was torched by a mob protesting the suicide bombing of the mosque.
Police said on Tuesday that a raid was conducted between the night of Monday and Tuesday in Gulestan Jauhar locality and arrested Mufti Altaf and Bilal Farooqi, who belong to Lashkar-e Jhangvi group.
They are the residents of eastern Punjab province.
Two hand grenades, two pistols, ten kilograms of explosives and some other equipment were seized from the two suspects.
The police claimed that the suspects have admitted they had masterminded the attack.
They reportedly said a tailor had offered himself for suicide attack.
One attacker was injured and the police are questioning him in a local hospital. Another attacker is believed to be still at large and police are conducting raids to catch him.
Police said that the arrested suspects have also admitted to have planned attacks on a Shiite mosque in the city of Sialkot in eastern Punjab last year.
