The visiting Indian ex-deputy premier and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha LK Advani was told that Pakistan Army was fully backing the on-going peace process between the two countries.
Punjab Governor General (Retd.) Khalid Maqbool told Advani that Pakistan Army fully supports the peace process, The Nation daily reported on Saturday.
The Indian leader called the demolition of the historic Babri mosque in India as the saddest day of his life and described the partition of the country and emerge of India and Pakistan as two independent and sovereign states as an unalterably reality, the report said.
Advani arrived on a week-long visit on invitation by Pakistan government.
He held talks with President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, and Foreign Minister Khurshid mehmood Kasuri.
Advani also held discussions with leader of opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other opposition leaders, besides exchanging views with the Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro and the Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain.
Both sides called the on-going peace process between the two archrivals irreversible and said both sides would be able to resolve their outstanding issues through peaceful means.
Islamabad and New delhi started the peace process last year after a historic meeting between President Musharraf and then Indian Premier Atal Behari Vajpayee in Islamabad in January.
Both countries have fought three wars, two over Kashmir a disputed piece of divided land, after gaining their independence from the colonial British rule in 1947.
