Pakistan may send centrifuge parts to IAEA

Pakistan is likely to send some components of a discarded centrifuge to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Commenting on the President General Pervez Musharraf's statement, the Foreign Office Spokesman told IRNA that Islamabad is considering to send the discarded parts of a centrifuge to the nuclear watchdog.

Jalil Abbas Jillani said that Pakistan is reviewing to send the centrifuge to IAEA in the wake of a request received from it.

President Musharraf told a local private television channel that Pakistan might send parts of centrifuge to IAEA.

To end the issue once for all we want to send nuclear centrifuges to Vienna for inspection and the matter is under consideration, Musharraf told the channel in an interview.

The spokesman pointed out that the agency needed the some components of an old centrifuge for investigation in the context of Iran's.

"These parts are discarded and have no utility for our programme and will have no negative implication," the spokesman maintained.

He said that this would be in consistence with Pakistan's commitment to cooperate with the agency while at the same time, fully protecting the strategic assets.

Jalil Abbas Jilani further stressed that Pakistan is not under investigation in context of proliferation but it is cooperating to facilitate for peaceful solution of the problem between the concerned parties including Iran.
