Three killed as fire breaks out in Pakistan navy ship

Islamabad, March 10, IRNA -- At least three people were killed and some 100 others injured on Thursday when fire broke out aboard a Pakistan navy ship in Karachi, a navy spokesman said. The blaze at Pakistan Navy Ship PNS-Muwan broke out in fuel tanker after a gas leakage, a private tv quoted a navy spokesman as saying. He said blaze started when the mechanics were busy in repairing work of the exhaust fan, killing those repairing the exhaust fan. He said the incident is the result of human error, adding that accident happened as the mechanics did not follow the set procedure. The spokesman said that 35 were injured but the Geo put number of the injured at 100, including 35 seriously injured. Five people are reportedly missing. Ambulances were rushed to the site to shift the injured to a naval hospital. Helicopters were also seen to remove the injured to the hospital. The naval authorities blocked the road leading to the dockyard and the journalists were nit allowed to move to the area.
