ISLAMABAD WILL DEAL WITH ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALISTS FROM UZBEKISTAN

TASHKENT, March 7 (RIA Novosti, Abu-Ali Niyazmatov) - Islamabad will fight Islamic fundamentalists from Uzbekistan operating on its territory, President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan told journalists. He is on an official visit to the Uzbek capital.
Musharraf said that Pakistan's authorities would take every necessary measure to extirpate on its territory fundamentalists originating from Uzbekistan and threatening peace and security in the region with their actions.
Musharraf also said that Pakistan seeks to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and asks for assistance from Islam Karimov, the President of Uzbekistan. The SCO comprises Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
In the event of a positive solution, joint efforts to combat international terrorism will be stepped up, the president of Pakistan said.
