Islamabad, Nov 10, IRNA - Pakistan Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed an application, seeking release of the founder of the country`s nuclear program Dr Abdul Qadir Khan, who has not been seen in public since he confessed of leaking nuclear secrets outside in February this year. Dr Khan was pardoned by President Musharraf after admitting leaking nuclear know how. The Supreme Court rejected the application after a statement by Dr Khan was read out in the court that the application was moved without his consent and permission. A prominent lawyer Ikram Chaudhry, who had filed the application, told the court there was no need to seek Dr Khan`s permission as he has been under "house arrest" and it was impossible to meet him. Registrar Supreme Court M.A Farooqi, who was sent by a two-member bench of the court to meet Dr Khan, later informed the apex court that the team of doctors deputed was treating him very well. "The doctors who have been with me during my service were treating me and I am satisfied with them," the registrar quoted Dr Khan as telling them. "Dr Khan said the constitutional petition filed in the apex court against his confinement was moved without his consent and even he was not informed." Ikram Chaudhry informed the court that Dr Khan on Tuesday said that his application regarding his confinement may be withdrawn. Last week, the court was informed by the lawyer that Dr Khan`s health was deteriorating and the court directed its Registrar to personally visit Dr Khan`s residence and get information about his health. The registrar produced a report before the court, in which Dr Khan said that he was quite well and being looked after. Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar said that the petition regarding confinement of Dr Khan could only be filed by any of his close relative. However, Ikram Chaudhry told the Court that during the filing of this petition, the wife and daughter of Dr Khan were also detained. TK/TSH/1771
