Pakistan: IAEA cannot meet nuclear scientists
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, Oct 2, IRNA -- Pakistan has said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) cannot be allowed to meet or interview its nuclear scientists. A Foreign Office statement made the assertion while reacting to IAEA`s announcement that Islamabad had denied it permission to interview the father of the Pakistani nuclear program, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. The statement, published by The News and other newspapers, said that Pakistan had extended cooperation to the IAEA and would continue to do that. However, access to a Pakistani scientist was not possible, it added. Dr. Khan has admitted to having links with nuclear proliferation abroad. It also said that Islamabad will continue cooperation with the international community`s efforts to wipe out the nuclear black market. MHA/TSH/2321/1432
