US delivers helicopters to Pakistan for border security

Islamabad, May 31, IRNA - The US government has delivered three HUEY II helicopters to Pakistan for use by the Ministry of Interior Air Wing, said a US Embassy news release received here on Monday. "These aircraft will supplement the 5 HUEY II helicopters and three fixed-wing aircraft already supplied by the State Department`s Bureau for International Norcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) as part of a $73 million border security program," it added. The aircraft will be used to support border security, counter narcotic and related operations on the western border. "They are a symbol of the ongoing close cooperation between the Government of Pakistan and the United States on these important issues," according to the news release. MA/TSH/1423
