Senior US official to discuss `serious issues` with Pak leadership

Islamabad, May 11, IRNA - The United States will take up "serious ssues" with Pakistan on Tuesday, local publication reported. Dawn newspaper reported that Assistant Secretary of State Christina Rocca would hold bilateral discussions with President General Pervez usharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and their senior officials. She was to arrive late Monday night, according to the paper. The daily said "serious international and bilateral issues" will be discussed during her stay in Pakistan. She visited Pakistan with US Secretary of State Colin Powell in March. Three important developments have happened internationally, regionally and bilaterally over the last 100 hours and these include the debase behavior of the US occupation forces, increased calls for pullout of the US-led forces from Iraq and US demand for deployment of Pakistani troops in the war-torn country, the daily said. During the talks, Dawn added, the Pakistan-India peace process and elections in India will prominently figure in. TSH/1430/212
