Pakistan hopes talks with India will be successful
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, Feb 9, IRNA -- Pakistan has expressed the hope that the forthcoming round of talks with India would be successful and pave the way for focusing more substantially on the comprehensive agenda to resolve outstanding issues including Kashmir. Replying to questions about hopes from the talks at a news briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesman Masood Khan said, "This should be a good beginning and both countries are able to identify the agenda, scope and prepare for more comprehensive talks". He said Pakistan and India have to zero in to focus on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir which has bedeviled relations between the two countries. He pointed out that since the talks are being resumed after a long time, both sides will look at the agenda, structure of talks and future course of action. "Kashmiris at this point are not being associated." He however said, "the essences of these talks are about aspirations of Kashmiri people". Pakistan and India are set to hold formal bilateral talks at the level of foreign secretaries here on February 16-18. TK/TSH/212 End
