IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Islamabad, Feb 7, IRNA - Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Acting
Parliamentary Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Saturday said that Iran
as not named any Pakistani nuclear scientists over proliferation
allegations.
Talking to reporters here, he said that recent remarks by the CIA
Director George Tenet proved that Iran did not blame any Pakistani
scientist as alleged by certain faction of media.
"Tenet in his statement indicated that CIA had collected its
intelligence directly from Pakistani sources."
Local press here quoting dispatches reported the US chief spy made
it clear that the agency with the assistance of intelligence from
UK agencies succeeded to collect information regarding involvement of
. Abdul Qadir Khan in proliferation of Pakistan`s` nuclear know-how.
Ali Khan maintained that blaming Iran was part of a conspiracy
against Pakistan-Iran relations also aimed at isolating Islamabad.
The lawmaker said Russia and Israel transferred their nuclear
technology to India and South Africa, urging the International Atomic
nergy Agency for inspections against Tel Aviv and Moscow.
He also asked the government to take political leadership of
Pakistan into confidence on the issue of `debriefing" of the nuclear
scientists.
"Government shall convene joint session of the Parliament for a
debate over the issue."
The opposition leader, however, assured his party`s all-out
support to any move by the government within the interest of the
Pakistani nation.
"The PML-N would unconditionally back any sincere step by the
government to save the nuclear programme of the country."
According to Ali Khan, the PML-N would resist any "external
pressure" against the nuclear programme of Pakistan.
Criticizing the government`s policy of handling the issue, he said
Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan was forced to confess that he proliferated.
The legislator feared that any further venture in this regard
would pave the way for the involvement of foreigners in the country`s
atomic program.
The politician urged the people of Pakistan to be united to back
their country`s nuclear programme.
