`Debriefing` of N-scientists not a controversial issue: Pak PM
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, Jan 22, IRNA - Prime Minister of Pakistan Mir Zafarullah Jamali Thursday said his government is fulfilling its responsibility to hold `debriefing` of the nuclear scientists. Talking to reporters in the provincial assembly building of Quetta, Balochistan, he said that the `debriefing` should not be made controversial. "Concern about the nuclear scientists is wrong," the premier said, "The government does not have any personal grudge with any one". He said that the debriefing of nuclear scientists is in the best interest of the Pakistani nation. Talking about the protests by lawyers over the debriefing, Jamali urged the lawyer community to focus on their profession instead of commenting on sensitive issues of national security. Responding to a question about the return of opposition leaders, Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto, the prime minister said they had gone into exile on their own and there is no ban on their return. "If they return and face charges in court, the government will have no objection." He said his government has not registered any case against the former prime ministers and they registered cases against each others. TK/TSH/215 End
