IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, Jan 21, IRNA -- Pakistan said Wednesday `debriefing` of it nuclear scientists and administration officials will be over in about a week. Speaking at a news conference here, Federal Cabinet spokesman and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that all the officials and scientists of first round of debriefings except Farooq are free. "Presently debriefing of eight persons is going on and there will be no further debriefing of any scientist or engineer." The official said the debriefing is being carried out on certain reservations expressed by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after their visits to Iran and Libya. "The debriefing is being carried out to clear the misgivings and to counter the propaganda against Pakistan," he added. The spokesman said that no government institution was involved in proliferation. "Nobody has been been sent out of the country and the debriefing is being carried out by our own agencies." He said those already debriefed or being debriefed had retired from service for more than four years. Replying to questions, he said Pakistan`s atomic and missile technology will be protected at all costs. "It is essential for our national security." TK/TSH/AH/210 End
