Pakistan to carry out more missile tests: Pakistan Army
IRNA
Islamabad, Oct 3, IRNA -- Pakistan would carry out more missile tests to validate its indigenously developed defence system in the coming few days, spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan said Friday. "The today`s test of Hataf-III ballistic missile was a part of the series of tests to be conducted in the next few days, to validate the design parameters of various missile systems," he said quoted by the official APP news agency. This was the second test of the Ghaznavi missile, which is capable of carrying all types of warheads upto a range of 290 km. An army statement released today said the timing of the tests reflects Pakistan`s determination not to engage in a tit-for-tat syndrome to other tests in the region. "Pakistan will maintain the pace of its own missile development programme and conduct tests as per its technical needs," the statement said. The last test of Pakistan`s indigenously developed missile system came on March 26, when it fired off a short-range (200 km) surface-to-surface missile known as Abdali. /TSH/210 End
