Pak, India to negotiate air link restoration on Wednesday

Islamabad, Aug 26, IRNA -- Civil aviation officials from Pakistan and India are set to meet here on Wednesday to discuss resumption of air links between the two countries, reports said. Satendra Singh, Director General Indian Civil Aviation, arrived on Tuesday along with a five member aviation delegation to discuss the issue with their Pakistani counterparts. Major General Mohammad Ashraf Chaudhry, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defense will lead the Pakistan side during the two-day talks, said local media. India and Pakistan closed their airspace twice, first in 1971 prior to the Indo-Pak war. The second time air, road, and rail links were severed last year. Following restoration of full diplomatic relations, the bus service has been restored, while air and rail links are yet to be resumed. /TSH/AH/210 End
