Pakistan expresses concern over US planned anti-missile defence system

ISLAMABAD, July 27 (APP): Pakistan Wednesday said it shares the concern of China and other countries that steps that can destabilize progress towards disarmament and global nuclear stabilization should not be taken. The Foreign Office spokesman made these remarks while commenting on Pakistan’s position on U.S. plans to develop anti-missile defence system. China and Russia have staunchly opposed the U.S. plans while European countries have also expressed concern over the project. "These are the issues which concern major powers which have large nuclear assets including missile capability," the spokesman said. "We share the concern that in the interest of progress towards disarmament and in the interest of nuclear stabilization globally steps should not be taken which can destabilize the situation," he said and added,"we share this concern with China and with other countries."
