Pakistan not to participate in arms race: Musharraf
LAHORE, Mar 13 (APP)-
Chief Executive, General Pervez Musharraf on Mar. 12 said that Pakistan does not want to participate in an arms race in the region. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Overseas Pakistanis' Science and Technology City (OPSTeC) here, he said that "economically sound Pakistan would be a great defence against any external aggression". The OPSTeC, a computer science college, has been set up by the Institute of Overseas Pakistanis (IOP). The Chief Executive said, revival of the national economy is on the top of the agenda of the government because this is essential for attaining the goal of self-reliance . He said we are facing huge debt servicing burden that hardly leaves any fiscal space to exert meaningful impact on the lives of the poor. He said economic revival would not depend only on the revival of growth rate but we also have to break the debt trap.
