Chief Executive rules out possibility of war between India, Pakistan

KARACHI, Feb 8 (APP)- Chief Executive, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, has ruled out the possibility of war between India and Pakistan. He was talking to newsmen after the inaugural ceremony of the 37th annual medical symposium of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) at its premises here on Feb. 7. When a newsman asked whether there is a danger of war between India and Pakistan, Gen. Pervez Musharraf replied that at the moment it is a mere rhetoric and the rhetoric increases tension. "I think that there is no possibility of war between the two countries", he observed. Gen. Musharraf said that there should be a dialogue between Pakistan and India. "But the Indians were creating tension", he said. "I do not want to increase tension", he said terming the recent statements of the Indian leaders mere rhetoric. Replying to another question, the Chief Executive said that he would soon be paying a day's visit to Afghanistan and meet Mullah Umar. He said that like Pakistan, Afghanistan is also against terrorism. He said that Pakistan and Afghanistan want to devise a joint strategy against terrorism. To a question about the Independent Power Producers (IPPs), the Chief Executive said that in three months time we have resolved the problems pertaining to the six IPPs and negotiations were going on with the main IPP Hubco. He said he was very optimistic that the Hubco issue would be resolved very soon.
