No nuclear radiation
of Chaghi's
explosions at all : Samar
ISLAMABAD, May 19 (APP): Renowned scientist, Dr Samar Mubarak Mand
said Tuesday with the help of modern measuring equipment, it has been observed that
Chaghi's nuclear explosions have had no nuclear radiation effects at all.
The head of Chaghi team said, fifteen people of my team approached the mouth of tunnel and
observed that additional level of nuclear radiation was similar there as it was in
Islamabad.
In a special interview with Radio Pakistan Network Programme, Dr Samar Mubarak said when
India conducted nuclear explosions on May 11 and 13 last year, we replied within two weeks
and retaliated India's missile threat within four days.
This he said, is our track record and we will try to keep it. Giving background of Chaghi
explosions he said, the Atomic Energy Commission was established in 1955 and the
first problem after setting up the commission was to appoint competent manpower
which was resolved gradually as we got few people.
The second task he said, was to refine uranium which was indeed a big job and setting up
of a nuclear reactor plant was another step required in this regard which was achieved in
1971 when the nuclear power plant got operational at Karachi, he added.
