Govt to follow decision of Parliament on CTBT
ISLAMABAD, Sept 12 (APP) :Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, while reiterating to defend the national interests on the question of CTBT, on Friday declared that the Parliament will decide country's position on signing the treaty. "Parliament represents the true aspiration of people of Pakistan and it is the Parliament which will decide our position on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty," Prime Minister told journalists after presiding over Parliamentary party meeting. The Prime Minister made it clear that Pakistan would not take any decision on CTBT under any sort of pressure and coercion. "We did not bow to any pressure before May 28 and took our decision independently," PM said. Replying to a question about Pakistan's conditions for signing CTBT he stated "what does the Parliament can debate on the issue. " The Prime Minister said, Joint Parliamentary Party of PML was briefed about benefits and fears vis a vis signing the treaty. "We also briefed the members about the purpose of CTBT." "A comprehensive and full fledged debate is being started in the Parliament today on CTBT and Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz will open the debate."
