Journalists demand arrest of Indian agent
WASHINGTON, DC. July 14 (APP):- The arrest of a fake "nuclear scientist" and action against his attorney Michael Wildes, and the USA Today reporter who filed the concocted story about the "defection" of Iftikhar Chaudhry Khan has been demanded by the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA). Gholam Arshad, an executive of SAJA and correspondent of a Bangladehsi newspaper, Inqilab, has asked the FBI and New York police department to arrest Khan, and institute criminal proceedings against him and his attorney. Independent sources say that it was not possible for USA Today to publish such a bizzare story and suspect behind the scene Indian involvement in this episode. They question why the newspaper failed to investigate the story before giving its prominent display, when they had options like contacting the Pakistan embassy and seeking information from their Pakistani correspondent. Observers say that USA Today has violated journalistic ethics in its rush to publish a story that clearly served Indian interests.
