Altaf greets Prime Minister on nuclear tests
LONDON, June 15 (APP): Mothaidda Qaumi Movement,(MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here on Sunday and congratulated him on his "bold step," to make Pakistan a nuclear power. The meeting which lasted for well over one hour, was attended by Information Minister Mushahid Hussain Sayed and Minister of State Haleem Siddiqui. MQM Chief was assisted by Nadeem Nusrat, Farrukh Naeem, and Senator Mustafa Kamal. Later talking to reporters, Prime Minister described his meeting with Altaf Hussain as, "good." He said Pakistan Muslim League and MQM shared common perceptions on various issues and situation in Karachi was one of them. "We both are concerned about Karachi and will work jointly for the restoration of durable peace in the city." He said MQM leader also supported government on nuclear issue and its national agenda for self-reliance. "That's why I have said that we share common positions on various issues." Altaf Hussain said MQM fully backed the government's decision to conduct the nuclear tests. "There was no option left for Pakistan but to detonate its nuclear device after India's five nuclear tests,' he added.
